Ok, I seldom answer anonymous questions on the blog, but I get this one a lot.
So here goes…
First off all—It is my job to parent my children. People have a lot of different opinions about a lot of different things, and I get to choose what is right for my kids.
So, why do I let my kid watch Glee?
Glee is on whenever the boys are brushing teeth, getting pajamas on, and reading stories. So, watching it live is never an option. They have never watched the show live.
The grown ups in the house watch the show sometime that week (after the kids are in bed) and determine if it is ok for the kids. Sometimes it is, and we’ll just let it run for them. Sometimes it’s not. When it’s not we’ll usually still let them watch the musical numbers, but nothing else. Sometimes those aren’t ok either, and we skip the episode entirely.
The show isn’t intended for kids as young as mine, so it is my job to be careful.
And that is just my opinion about my family and my kids. Every parent is different and every child is different.
So, there you have it.
(And for the record I think Glee is 90% about friendship, not sex…but the boys missed a few episodes this season because of it.)
